Since my A to Z Challenge is featuring places I’d like to visit, next up is a domestic location!
Welcome to Bah-stin!
Boston was first incorporated as a town in 1630, and became a city in 1822, making it one of America’s oldest cities. Boston is home to over 617,000 residents, many institutions of higher education, and numerous professional sports teams. Boston was basically the seat of the American Revolution (what with the Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre, Paul Revere’s ride, the Battle of Bunker Hill…), and even though I’m not a history buff, the thought of all that exploring and learning appeals to me!
Highlights: history nearly everywhere you look, museums galore, the New England Aquarium, Boston Common (America’s oldest public park) + many more green spaces, Harvard University, the Boston Harbor, Sam Adams Brewery, plus abounding Irish-American influence (holla!)
Best time to visit: Fall, according to Uncle Google
Current cost of a plane ticket from Charlottesville (CHO) to Boston Logan (BOS): $532.60 with taxes
For those of you who have visited, what were the highlights of your trip to Boston? Any must-sees? Recommendations on hotels, restaurants, museums, events? (Or do you prefer a different city that begins with B?)
